Advanced planning and scheduling suite for ArcelorMittal Bremen, Germany
Jun 5, 2008
ArcelorMittal Bremen and AIS - Advanced Information Systems started a new project with the aim to optimize the complete supply chain of the mill.

In the course of this project, AIS will improve all the planning and scheduling levels of the supply chain. From budget planning to detailed scheduling and material assignment; passing through capacity planning and master scheduling, the complete supply chain of ArcelorMittal Bremen will be renewed.

On top of planning and scheduling, AIS modules will also manage key performance indicators (KPI) monitoring. The SteelPlanner modules will provide the complete production status to managers, users, programmers, and help them to take the correct decisions by highlighting - at different levels of decisions - the current KPI situation against target and history.

Five well-known modules will be implemented: AlphaPlanner, BetaPlanner, BetaPlanner MidTerm, Material Flow Coordinator, and Sacso. AIS’s recent development, SigmaPlanner for hot and direct charging optimization, will also be implemented.

"With this project, we target to realize a real breakthrough in supply chain management. We focus to steer the whole supply chain as an integrated process from macro-planning to detailed schedule within one toolset. We intent to improve our delivery performance towards our customers while reducing significantly leadtimes and stocks and optimizing the utilization of our installations" says Reiner Blaschek, manager of Customer Service & Logistics of ArcelorMittal Bremen.

This ambitious project is spanning over 2 years and will last until the end December 2009.
