ArcelorMittal to rollout new planning system on 11 finishing lines in Belgium
Sep 14, 2007
After a comprehensive selection process, Arcelor Steel Belgium, member of the ArcelorMittal Group, has selected the AIS BetaPlanner solution for the optimization of the detailed scheduling of its finishing facilities in Liège, Belgium
The software for short term detailed scheduling optimization of rolling mills will be implemented on all the downstream production lines:
- 1 continuous annealing line
- 4 galvanizing lines
- 3 organic coating lines
- 3 electro-galvanizing lines
Since last year, ArcelorMittal is undergoing a major project to unify the production environment of their 5 production sites in Liège. Part of this ambitious project was the need of an automated scheduling system for the coating and finishing lines. The flexibility and ease of implementation of the BetaPlanner solution, together with its more than 70 implementations worldwide, was a decisive factor in the selection process.
The project will start in Q3 2007 with the implementation of one galvanizing line. The go-live of the different instances of BetaPlanner will be spread over two years according to the rollout plan of the new production environment.
