Corus, NL, optimizes production in continuous casting
Feb 15, 2009
At the IJmuiden, NL, direct sheet plant, Corus has been measuring the edge profile of the continuous slab at the exit of the caster. The purpose of the measurements with a Shapeline 3D-system is to optimize the settings of the caster to eliminate the risk of break-out from still molten core.
"The theoretical assumptions about how to improve our production process have been proven by the test, and we are now taking the solution into normal operational procedure" says the Corus project leader Mr. K Schurer.
