Parsytec AG has received an order for a parsytec 5i surface quality yield management system from Duferco La Louvière, Belgium. After several yet undisclosed parsytec 5i pilot orders from outside Europe, this is the first European steel producer deciding on this new category of surface quality yield management.

Duferco, was established in 1979 to exploit the advantages of emerging markets steel production/trading. It has grown to a multinational steel trader and producer. The group has production capacities in Belgium, Italy, Eastern Europe, the US, Guatemala and South Africa and a total production of approximately six million tons of both flat and long steel products.

With the now ordered parsytec 5i system, Duferco will equip its pickling line in La Louvière with the Parsytec Sensor System and the Inspection Framework for identifying all relevant defects at this value-critical production step. The Parsytec solution will enable Duferco to extract only the decision-relevant information from the thus collected huge amount of quality data. This information will by used by several decision support solutions to be created with Parsytec's Surface Excel software. Finally, this solution will also integrate the data delivered from Parsytec's already installed inspection system at Duferco's hot mill in order to optimize the production and material flow between hot mill and pickling. <br />Duferco Management comments: "We know Parsytec's outstanding value proposition from our Parsytec system at the hot mill.
