Investment into CC6 to benefit from synergy effects with CC5
Feb 6, 2012
Germany-based AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke invests around 300 million Euro in CC6 for the manufacturing of slabs with improved homogeneity for heavy plates. The design of this two-strand vertical thick-slab caster corresponds to that of the existing CC5 line, so as to achieve synergy effects in the fields of operation, servicing and maintenance.
The supply covers the casting platform, mould, hydraulic oscillator, strand guide system, edge-controlled secondary cooling and position-controlled segment adjustment as well as the pinch-roll units for the dummy bar and hot strand, as well as the complete electricals and automation. Further feature include mould-level control, hydraulic segment adjustment and load compensation control. A hydraulic pinch-roll adjustment was especially developed in cooperation with the R&D departments of AG der Dillinger Hütte.
According to the customer's specifications, a circular ground area was chosen as a base for the vertical external walls of the deep parts of the foundation. Thus, the self-supporting effect will be made use of simultaneously ommitting horizontal anchoring.
Commissioning is scheduled for spring 2014.
