New 1.2-Mt/a superflexible long products rolling mill for DMKD, Ukraine
Jun 23, 2007
DMKD, Dneprovsky I&S Works has selected Danieli as supplier of a new ultrahigh-capacity superflexible bar, section and rod mill to be installed at the Dneprodzerzhinsk works, in place of the existing old bar mill.
The order, signed at beginning of January 2007, foresees the supply of a new state-of-the-art rolling mill with a nominal yearly output of 1.2-Mt and featuring all the latest technologies and high-tech equipment available in production of commercial steel long products. The new plant will be one of the largest and most advanced plants of this type in the whole Eastern Europe.
It will be fed by a new 200-t/h walking beam reheating furnace and will be arranged over an 18-stand continuous mill plus two 4-pass high-speed twist-free finishing blocks, fed by two-strand-slit rolled stock coming from the upstream intermediate stands.
This way, the finishing rolling of the smaller range bar sizes (8 to 20-mm) will be performed on two independent strands at very high speed (up to 35 mps), fully exploiting the RHF capacity. High-speed bar delivery onto cooling bed will be performed through the double twin channel system.
Bigger bar sizes and the range of profiles will be rolled on one strand. On-line water quenching and self-tempering of rebars will be performed by QTB lines, located at the finishing blocks and at continuous mill delivery side.
Dedicated finishing facilities after cooling bed, including CCL straightening and on-the-fly cut-to length, and automatic counting, bundling and stacking facilities, will be in charge of processing the range of straight bar products, at the very high mill output rates.
The 110-m/s wire rod production outlet will be made up of a 10-pass DWB high-speed finishing block, associated DSC controlled cooling line and Sund finishing facilities, suitable for 2.3-t coils.
Product range of the new plant will include 16 to 65-mm-dia quality plain bars, 8 to 40-mm-dia rebars, 25 to 100-mm angles and correspondent channels, and 5.5 to 16-mm-dia wire rod in common and quality structural carbon steel grades.
Danieli Automation will supply electricals and the fully integrated automation system for the whole plant.
Commissioning is foreseen for the first half of 2008.
