Severstal commissions No. 4 Blast Furnace

After a complete rebuild and modernization, Severstal re-commissioned No. 4 Blast Furnace at their Cherepovets works in Russia on 18 December 2005. The new furnace has a useful volume of 2700 m3 and is designed for an annual hot metal capacity of 2.25m metric tons. The blast furnace is equipped with a latest design Paul Wurth Bell-Less Top charging system of parallel hopper type which, in particular, features a main gearbox with closed-loop water cooling.

The new No. 4 blast furnace has three tapholes and two horizontal castfloors which are equipped with full hydraulically driven tapping machinery of TMT.
