Danieli to upgrade Gerdau Ameristeel steel mills at Whitby and Cartersville.

Whitby steel mill modification aims at enhancing mill's productivity and finished products quality. New finishing facilities will be installed, including a CCL system that will enable in-line continuous straightening, cutting to length and delivery of layers of bars and sections to the bundling equipment.

At Whitby, Gerdau Ameristeel will also add a secondary rebar bundler with stacking capabilities for flats and squares. The upgraded finishing facilities will process up to 35-mm-dia rebars, rounds, and squares, and up to 3" angles and 4" flats and channels at rates of 120 short tons/hr. According to COO Andr
