EAF automatic temperature/sampling manipulator at Gerdau Ameristeel
Oct 10, 2005

Gerdau Ameristeel Charlotte, USA now operates with the EAF automatic temperature/sampling manipulator.

The CATFIS automatic temperature/sampling EAF manipulator supplied by MORE started up mid August 2005 in Gerdau Charlotte's 65 ton AC continuos scrap feeding EAF with a total annual production of 400.000 tons. The MORE unit replaced an existing automatic side-wall sampler.

The CATFIS equipment for temperature/carbon/oxygen/sample measuring, operated through the slag door has been developed to improve operators safety, eliminate manual operation in front of the slag door, reduce transformation costs due to process optimization and total reliability of the measurements.
