Nucor to install world’s largest DR plant
Mar 14, 2011
Nucor will install a 2.5 million ton per year Energiron ZR plant in Louisiana, USA.

The plant, using a reformerless process design, will produce cold-discharge DRI of 96% metallization and 3.0% carbon in the form of iron carbide, which will be shipped to the various Nucor producing facilities.

The Energiron ZR process provides significantly low plant operating costs and allows the selective capture of CO2 which can be commercialized as a valuable by-product. The DR plant will also comply with the strictest environmental regulations by the EPA in terms of NOx, SOx and other pollutants, having already been granted the corresponding air permit in Louisiana.

The project covers the full supply of the DR plant, license, training and technical assistance in commissioning and start-up.
