SeverStal North America orders equipment for blast furnace C rebuild
Oct 30, 2006

SeverStal North America, Inc. will completely rebuild and modernize their "C" Blast Furnace at Dearborn, MI. The new furnace will produce 6,500 short tons of hot metal per day. An engineering and equipment supply package contracted to the Paul Wurth Group contains: the design and the process control of stockhouse operations with 15% increased capacity; a new parallel-hopper bell-less top charging system (BLT) with all accessories and process model; all furnace wall stave coolers made of both copper and cast iron; the blast furnace gas cleaning wet separation by means of a scrubber with annular gap control elements - and, finally, operator and maintenance training as well as start-up assistance.

At the same time, stockline recorders, temperature measurement and gas sampling devices and completely new, full hydraulically driven tapping machinery for two tapholes will be supplied by TMT (a joint company of Dango & Dienenthal GmbH and Paul Wurth S.A.), under a licensing agreement in North America to Paul Wurth, Inc.
