Nov 9, 2010
Salem Steel Plant, a company of the SAIL group (Steel Authority of India Ltd), has successfully put into operation a single-strand slab caster for the production of slabs of various stainless-steel grades.

The slab caster produces slabs in thicknesses of 140 to 200 mm and widths of 600 to 1,300 mm at a maximum casting speed of 1.5 m/min. The unit is designed to produce 300,000 t of slabs per year.

Salem Steel Plant, located in the south of India in the state of Tamil Nadu, offers a wide range of hot- and cold-rolled as well as surface treated stainless-steel strip. The new slab caster will meet the demand for slabs.
