Jun 25, 2009
Xinyu Iron Steel & Co., Ltd in China has placed an order with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to provide the engineering, supply of equipment and services for a new continuous annealing line.
The annealing line forms part of a cold rolling mill for the production of high-grade strip for the automotive industry, and is scheduled to commence operation in April 2011. The order value is in the two-digit million euro range. In 2009, Siemens has already received orders from two other Chinese steel producers to supply electric and automation systems for processing lines.
The new continuous annealing line will be constructed at Xinyu in Jiangxi province and is designed to process 700,000 t of steel strip of widths between 700 and 1,500 mm and thicknesses from 0.2 to 2.0 mm. Siemens VAI is responsible for the complete engineering and design of the mechanical and electrical equipments, also will supply special machinery of crucial significance to product quality, including a welding system, a skin pass mill stand and a tension leveler, and a turret type side trimmer. The furnace will come from another vendor.
The automation equipment for the entire line, including the furnace, likewise forms part of the scope of supply. The solution concept is based on the Siroll platform, specially developed for processing lines. Siemens is also responsible for supervision of the installation work as well as for commissioning, acceptance-test support and customer training. In the past, the company has already supplied equipment for a hot strip mill and a coupled tandem pickling line to Xinyu Iron & Steel.
