Viewpoint by Richard Serra
Since March 26th, 2006, the roundabout near to gate 4 of Dillinger Hütte is being decorated by a new steel sculpture especially desgined by Richard Serra. Viewpoint, as the artist named his work, alludes to both the location and the close connection between the city and the steelworks. Thus, it bridges some of the various faces of the town, i.e. steel and art, industry and culture.
When the unveiling ceremony reached its height, the sculpture was presented to the city of Dillingen by the steel producing company. With this donation, the town now ranks between many world-famous cities hosting a Serra steel sculpture.
