With this acquisition GMH intends to extent their involvement in railway technology, which has, so far, been restricted to European countries.
The accession adds to the business unit railway technology of Georgsmarienhütte company group, which includes Bochumer Verein Verkehrstechnik GmbH, Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg GmbH as well as Bahntechnik Brand Örbisdorf GmbH.
Peter van Hüllen, CEO of Georgsmarienhütte Holding GmbH told STEEL GRIPS online: „MWL Brasil enables us to strengthen market access especially in The Americas, Asia and Africa. Simultaneously, it is possible to use all distribution channels existing in the BU railway technology to offer MWL´s products on the European market ... This corporate gain is a benefit for MWL Brasil brought about by the integration."
Georgsmarienhütte group comprises 50 companies in Germany, Austria and Belgium. Their 10000 employees earned a sales volume of 2.1 billion Euro in 2009.
