Kerstin Garbracht:
QuinLogic: new company creates SIS-independent production quality management software
Aug 18, 2008
A group of software and quality engineers have founded QuinLogic, provider of software for improving quality throughout the steel and non-ferrous production process. The new company based in Aachen, Germany, features Friedrich  Luecking as representative of Products and Marketing, Hans Peintinger for Sales and Finances, as well as Stephan Keil for R&D. Marion Bruecher-Wenner is in charge of Human Resources and administrative tasks.

Steelmakers have long called for an interface linking the different surface inspection systems (SIS) available on their lines. This demand has grown with globalization and consolidation in the metal producing industry. Now, they can draw from the background of QuinLogic´s team: For the first time, a vendor independent service is available to assess a surface inspection system´s performance level and also to provide a tuning service. Norbert Kotthoff,  QuinLogic´s Projects and Service Manager tells STEEL GRIPS: "Surface inspection systems need to keep up with increasing customer requirements and tuned accordingly. With our experience, we can often improve the performance level of an installed SIS by 30%". This is particularly important for steel and NF  manufacturers operating a variety of inspection systems.

Bringing software and steel together - the QuinLogic team

QuinLogic´s engineers worked more than a decade for the steel industry. They know how to create innovative solutions for surface inspection, decision support software and process optimization. Addressing the needs of line and works  managers, quality specialists and process engineers, the new QuinLogic software will support faster and more accurate decisions. To achieve this, an unprecedented amount of online gauge information will be employed and analyzed to improve the utilization of material, energy and other resources. It is implementable (Level 2 and higher) to any line in the production of carbon and stainless steel and non-ferrous (aluminium, copper, brass).
