Minoru Sasabe and Alexander McLean:
A mathematical description of change in annual production rate of crude steel in various countries based on a logistic transformation procedure
Calculation of annual crude steel production for different countries, short range and long range order lines, historical phenomenon, graphical data, country classification by growth category, mirror symmetry, logistic transformation
The relationship between annual production of crude steel for different countries and the calendar year can be expressed in terms of a plurality of short range and long range order lines. A feature of the historical phenomenon observed for a particular country was that one of the lines regressed for a given set of data had a similar gradient to that of another line that represented data from a different time period. For certain countries this implies that recovery from damage caused for example by an oil crisis has been accomplished with the same historical inertia as that exhibited during the period of recovery from damage following the Second World War. From consideration of the graphical data, each country can be classified in terms of a particular growth category. Based on the mirror symmetry of the lines generated from the logistic transformations it is possible to estimate the production rate of crude steel for different countries in the relatively near future.
