Concept and practical results of new eddy-current mould level sensors
Mould level sensor, continuous casting, digital processing
This paper introduces a new generation of eddy-current mould level sensors for continuous casting. Thanks to its fully
digital processing unit, it offers improved level control performance, especially in terms of response time and accuracy.
Furthermore, some advanced algorithms were successfully implemented, e.g. adaptive waves filtering.
Several site installations of this sensor are described on the examples of various configurations like slab and bloom
casters, the production of carbon and stainless steel. Practical results are given, focusing the effect on mould-level
control loop performance.
