Application of computer algebraic investigations of the thermally interconnected systems ladle, tundish, mould
Continuous casting, online superheat control, optimum order temperature prediction
This investigation focuses practical application of the computer algebraic model controlling superheat in continuous casting. One application is the long-term prediction and online control of the mean tundish temperature in casting sequences. It can be shown that calculation and measurement never differed from each other more than the inexactness of temperature dip-measurement. The mathematical relation between the mean superheat in the tundish and the optimum casting rate is also given. Some calculations simulating the steel temperature in the ladle and the tundish as functions of time are discussed. It is possible to predict the order temperature for the next ladle in the sequence, considering the actual casting situation.
