Electrical behaviour of epoxy reinforced with copper and iron metallic powders
Electrical properties of epoxy reinforced with metallic powders were investigated to examine the composite specimen’s conductive behaviour at low and high frequencies. Composite specimens were reinforced with metallic powders of iron and copper of micrometer size. Electrical resistivity was measured at room temperature (20 to 25 °C). The hypotheses of composites resistivities in terms of different amounts of powders employed were derived, and these overturned a remarkable result of specimens resistivities. Conductivity was considered as a variable which is dependent on the volume fraction of

Learning online: the flexible way of training
The European Coil Coating Association UK group has created a distance learning course called ECCA Learning Online that uses the UK group’s existing website. It is recognised that the improvement of an individual’s knowledge through appropriate education and training leads to higher efficiency in the work environment and the confidence of the workforce which, in turn, indirectly benefits the customers of the various companies and organisations that make up the coil coating industry. A distance learning course is a flexible and cost effective way of

Staff motivation for process-interface improvement
The Chair of Quality Engineering at the University of Dortmund developed a continuous system which allows companies to detect their employee-based weakness of communication and to remove this shortcoming. To optimize the communication structure of companies, the research project was started in 2000 by identifying the supporting and detrimental factors of communication at process-interfaces.

Coil coating industry provides know-how for next generation of customers
Companies active in the coil coating industry work jointly on an education programme to improve conditions for market growth in the building market and to contribute to the quality of design and construction. As part of the objective of organizing educational training programmes the education task group of ECCA is now working on a programme for architectural students. Thus, they aim at increasing the awareness of coil coated metal for professional designers and specifiers.
