Medium-section mill for Turkish long-product manufacturer
Mar 3, 2011
Turkish steelmaker İzmir Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş. (IDÇ) ordered a new medium-section mill. The mill will be erected in the Foça works and is designed for an annual production of 400,000 t of section steel. IDÇ intends to expand its rolling capacity and to add to its product range sections with cross-sections of up to 300 mm.
For the medium-section mill of IDÇ, a reversing roughing stand, a four-stand intermediate mill and a six-stand finishing train will be supplied. The intermediate and finishing lines are equipped with stands in horizontal-universal arrangement. The scope of supply also comprises all shear and sawing systems, a straightener and two strapping machines. The project also includes variable-speed main and auxiliary drives and motors as well as the entire basic automation system.
The engineering responsibilities for plant components to be supplied by IDÇ, including stand quick change devices, pinch rolls, dust and scale collection systems, a rapid-roll-exchange system, a magnetic stacker and the accompanying devices for stack unloading and weighing are also by Siemens. The scope of supply is rounded off by consultation services for the erection and commissioning phases.
İzmir Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş. is a long-product manufacturer and operates an integrated, electric steel based production line in Western Foça. The company disposes of an annual production capacity of 1.5 million t of billets and 1 million t of reinforcement steel.
The new rolling mill will be commissioned at the end of 2012.
