Erwin A. T. Wosch:
Modelling the thermal conditions in the continuous-casting secondary cooling zone by computer algebra
Continuous casting, secondary cooling, modelling, computer algebra
This investigation gives more insight into the fundamentals of slab and thin slab casters. How can slab surface temperature and the position of the liquid crater tip be approximated by computer-algebraic algorithms? Will the knowledge of the thermal conditions in continuous casting moulds and secondary cooling zone help to achieve this aim?

Read about case studies on the influence of various cooling strategies on the position of the liquid crater tip and on slab surface temperature, and about very promising first applications to practical operation.
