Interactions between CO2 from MgO-CaO linings and liquid steel and their effects on the total oxygen content of steel
CO2, interaction, steel, total oxygen content
The influence of CaO-MgO lining material on the total oxygen content of steel is investigated in this paper. The interactions between CO2 from the decomposition process of limestone and metal constituents in liquid steel are calculated by thermal dynamic methods with the assistance of a special software. It can be seen from the results that CO2 can react with the metal components in steel. The oxides formed in the reaction processes increase the total oxygen content of the steel.
