China’s steel capacity to hit 768 million tons this year
Apr 29, 2011
China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) said today that it expected the country’s total steel capacity to hit 768 million tons by end of 2011, which means that the overcapacity control would become a big task. Reuters reported.
CISA indicated that the output from small and medium sized regional steel enterprises has increased much more quickly.
It’s estimated that steel production from small and medium sized steel mills during this January to February would rise by 52.72% year on year in comparison of 6.86% in largest scaled steel mill.
Also, CISA predicted that China’s steel demand would rise 2.6%~4.6% per year from 2011 to 2015.
