Output cuts at ArcelorMittal, capacity-use below 65%
Nov 6, 2008
ArcelorMittal is increasing its production cuts to 30% or more in the fourth quarter of this year. It expects to reduce output by 9 million t from the third quarter volume of about 29 million t, according to a presentation posted on its website.

Fourth quarter output will be reduced by more than 35% in its flat carbon Americas and Asia, Africa & CIS divisions, by more than 30% in flat carbon Europe, and by about 30% in the long carbon and stainless steel divisions.

This will leave the company's overall capacity-utilisation rate below 65%, the presentation said.
