NTMK (Nizhniy Tagil Iron & Steel Works) in the Russian Republic awarded SMS Mevac GmbH, Germany, a contract to supply a 160-t Duplex RH-TOP plant (rocker beam system).
The new plant has been designed to treat heats with a nominal weight of 160 t. The Duplex RH-plant comprises two rocker beam systems, two TOP lances, one feeding system for alloying agents and two vacuum lock systems.
The vacuum is generated by a modern three-stage steam-jet vacuum pump in coaction with water ring pumps serving to compress the offgas to atmospheric pressure, thus keeping the consumption of steam and condenser cooling water down to a minimum.
Ladle transfer cars take care of ladle transport.
The scope of supply comprises basic engineering, detail engineering and the delivery of key components (mechanical and electrical).
The new facility will process mainly grades for rail steel, railway wheels, heavy plates for tubes/pipes, deep-drawing grades (including ULC and IF steels) as well as tube steels.
