State subsidies for the modernisation of pusher furnace no. 2 in the framework of the decarbonisation programme of the French industry.

Dillinger France, subsidiary of the German Dillinger Group, are granted state subsidies by the French government: On 10 September 2020, the French Agency for the Environment and Control of Energy Consumption (ADEME) issued a call for projects on the energy efficiency of processes and public utilities in the industry.

In late November 2020, the fifth Arvedi ESP (Endless Strip Production) plant supplied by Primetals Technologies produced the first coil at the Chinese steel producer Rizhao Steel Co., Ltd. (Rizhao Steel).

Italian steel producer Duferco commissions SMS group to supply medium section mill powered exclusively by renewable energies

Duferco Steel, located in Brescia, Italy, has placed an order with SMS group for a new medium section rolling mill. This flagship project will focus on core components of digitalization and automation in production and logistics, and on sustainability. This new, ultra-modern rolling mill to be installed in Italy will make Duferco one of the most important centers of steal beam production in Europe.

ANDRITZ Maerz transfers global copper furnace business to SMS group

ANDRITZ Maerz GmbH, based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and SMS group GmbH have entered into an agreement to transfer the global copper furnace business, including the related intellectual property (know-how, references, patents, etc.) and service activities, from ANDRITZ Maerz to SMS group. This acquisition further strengthens the position of SMS group as a system supplier in the field of non-ferrous metals production.

Successful “first plate” produced with the X-Roll® MultiFlexQuench from SMS group at Ilsenburger Grobblech

On November 23, 2020, Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH successfully heated the first heavy plate in its heat-treatment furnace No. 1, followed by the subsequent successful cooling in the new X-Roll® MultiFlex-Quench (MFQ) supplied by SMS group. Thanks to the closely coordinated and targeted collaboration during the assembly and cold commissioning phases, production of the “first plate” could take place eight days before the originally scheduled challenging deadline.

Endless casting and rolling operations right from the first heat

On December 18th, thanks to the joint efforts of Danieli and Nucor teams, Nucor Steel Florida safely started on schedule, melting, casting and rolling in endless mode from the first heat.
